Previewing Content

You can preview both content items and section pages by selecting the graphics/preview-button.png button at the bottom of the editor. A preview of how the current content item / section will look when published is then immediately displayed. By default, the preview function does not take account of the current state of related content: everything you can see in the editor is included in the preview. You can, however, change this using the preview control dialog displayed in the top right corner of the preview:

The preview control dialog offers two options:

Also preview unpublished content

Uncheck this option to remove related content that is not currently published from the preview. If you uncheck this option then the preview shows you exactly what the section or content item you are working on would look like if you published it now, without also ensuring that all the related content was published too.

Preview date

You can use these fields to set a date and time for the preview. The preview will then show you exactly how the section or content item you are working on will look at the specified time, taking account of content that has been scheduled to be published or to expire at certain times.

Note that the Preview date feature will only work if the Also preview unpublished content option is switched off.

The preview control dialog can be moved if it is covering part of the preview that you want to see – simply drag it out of the way.
