Preconditions
The following preconditions must be met before you can install the SSE Proxy:
-
You have the credentials needed to access CCI Europe's software repositories.
-
The JDK is installed on your sse-proxy-host.
Choosing an installation method
Until recently, all
CUE-supplied
components including the
SSE Proxy had
to be installed by manually downloading and unpacking archive files.
This is no longer the case.
SSE Proxy is
now available as a deb
package (for installing on
Ubuntu/Debian systems) and as an rpm
package (for
installation on RedHat/CentOS systems). This is now the recommended
method of installing
SSE Proxy, although
it is still possible to use the old method based on manually downloading
and unpacking an archive.
Using the new package installation method offers many advantages over the old manual installation procedure:
-
It is faster and quicker
-
It is significantly less error-prone
The old installation method will continue to be documented for the moment.
The new method installs the
SSE Proxy's
configuration file in /etc/escenic/sse-proxy
, whereas
the old method installs it in
/opt/escenic/sse-proxy1.0.5-3/configuration
.
This manual describes the file as located in
/etc/escenic/sse-proxy
. If you installed using the
old method, you can create a link to
/opt/escenic/sse-proxy1.0.5-3/configuration
in /etc/escenic
so that the file is visible in the
expected location.
